The California Energy Commission (CEC) is looking to recruit a Student Assistant to work in the Title 20 Help Center for the Office of Instrumentation in the Competency Division.
Employment conditions

This is a part-time, temporary, non-employee student job. Recruitment for all positions at University Enterprises, Inc. On the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. And the employee. This means that any of the university’s affiliates or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.

UEI is not a multi-state employer. UEI only hires candidates who live and work in California. If you are selected for this position, you must be a California resident and all work must be performed in the state of California.

Depending on the type of job you are applying for, a pre-employment background check may be conducted consisting of one or more of the following: employment history, professional references, forensic examination, educational verification (i.e. degree, license, or official transcript) and screening Physical and urinalysis test. Work schedule

Flexible, Monday to Friday, between 8am and 5pm. The final work schedule is mutually agreed upon by the student and supervisor.

Due to COVID-19, the student will be required to work in accordance with the UEI Remote Workplace Policy and sign the UEI Remote Work Agreement.
Extra work schedule

Student assistants and graduate student assistants generally work up to 20 hours per week (Sunday – Saturday) during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during breaks; (winter, spring and summer). Another work schedule option for students who work off-campus through the California Intern network is to work 28 hours per week, year-round.

Basic requirements

Must be an undergraduate student attending classes during the regular semester (fall, spring and winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list.

Responsibilities and duties

* Answer phone calls and respond to emails from external stakeholders to assist with compliance with Section 20 of the Hardware Efficiency Regulations, which regulates the sale of hardware in California.

* Help employees maintain CEC’s hardware efficiency database by collecting data, analyzing trends, and testing new features.

* Prepare technical responses to hardware related inquiries, including data inquiries, in consultation with appropriate technical personnel.

* Assisting technical staff with regulatory efforts by doing an internet search and analyzing the regulations of various agencies (state and federal).

* Assist in outreach and education efforts by assisting in the preparation of documents and web page updates.
