The Police Department Assistant General works on various law enforcement duties at the station and in the field. Specific tasks include (but are not limited to) animal control, records, forensics, detective office, personnel and training, and patrols.

Basic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs various routine and office duties including conducting surveys and writing reports.
  • He handles public inquiries and relieves sworn officers of the duties of non-sworn police officers.
  • You operate public safety communications equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications Guidelines

Education and Experience: Must be within one semester of satisfactorily completing high school or attaining high school graduation or its equivalent (GED) with full accreditation status granted by an institutional or specialized accrediting body recognized by the US Department of Education or the Board Higher Education Education Accreditation. Police experience and/or lessons, or eg preparation, is desirable.

Age: Must be at least 18 years old at the time of appointment.

Driver’s License: A valid California driver’s license, Class C and reasonable driving record is required as a condition of employment and continued employment.

Citizenship: Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien who meets the requirements of GA Section 1031(a) and 1031.5.

Hours of Operation: Assignees will be required to work a maximum of 19 hours per week. Assignees may be required to work different hours, shifts, holidays, and weekends.

Special requirements:

Personality: Applicants must have good character and reputation. Applicants will be fingerprinted and records checked at both state and federal offices. Applicants must not have a conviction history of a serious crime or multiple convictions of minor crimes. The credit rating, if established, must be satisfactory.

While performing the duties of this category, employees are required to sit regularly; speaking and listening, in person and over the phone; Use of hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate standard office and police field equipment; Repeatedly reach with hands and arms. Staff are sometimes required to climb or balance; Staff are frequently required to bend, kneel, squat, bend and sometimes maneuver, crawl or climb into confined spaces. Staff are frequently required to walk, stand, lift and move records, documents, and equipment, or push and move supplies weighing up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Expected salary: $14.04 – 17.14 per hour
