Must be a resident of Stanislaus County;

Must be a current advanced student at CSU Stanislaus, University of the Pacific, or UC Merced with a BA/BSc.

or a current MJC student completing an AA/AS degree (not pursuing a Bachelor’s degree)

The field of study should be in Marketing.

General Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Training and Marketing Coordinator, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Marketing Intern performs a variety of complex and specialized marketing functions in order to support the overall success of the Center’s programs and goals. The Marketing Intern will also perform other related duties as assigned by the Small Business Development Center Manager.

Essential Duties:

Assist the Marketing Coordinator in creating marketing materials such as ongoing communications, flyers, correspondence, social media posts and SBDC website postings.

Interact with potential and existing customers through social media.

Find relevant events, news, contacts, skills and advice for small businesses.

Create, edit and publish on including the training calendar.

Schedule and publish courses on the website and Neoserra, and ensure documentation conforms to SBDC and SBA guidelines.

The team assisted with events including the Women Entrepreneur Symposium, Sonora Business Fair, quarterly consultants meetings, and others as needed.

Assist the Director and other staff with clerical tasks related to the administrative details of the day-to-day operations of SBDC;

Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Small Business Development Center Director and/or the Assistant Director to enhance the success of the Small Business Development Center program;

The ability to:

Operate computer and peripheral devices to take advantage of general and specialized software applications for word processing, spreadsheets, database management, desktop publishing, Internet navigation, financial reporting, seminar attendance, utility scheduling, creating and uploading content to the SBDC website and sending and receiving electronic mail;

Follow oral and written instructions.

Understand and comply with all Federal regulations applicable to SBDC as well as the UC Merced Regional Network SBDC and Opportunity Stanislaus (host) policies and procedures;

Accurately organize and maintain filing and file systems;

Apply knowledge about proper use of the English language, grammar, spelling and punctuation;

Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with other departments, employees, clients and the community;

Demonstrate clear evidence of sensitivity and understanding of the diverse social, economic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of clients, employees, stakeholders and community members;

Minimum requirements:


Requires intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint). Adobe Creative Suite proficiency required. Strong understanding of Facebook and constant communication. Test required to determine proficiency in Excel and Adobe Creative Suite. Marketing experience. Substantial work experience especially in small companies is desirable.


Current seniors at CSU Stanislaus, University of the Pacific or UC Merced seniors pursuing a BA/BSc or MJC students pursuing AA/AS and not pursuing a BA/BSc degree. Administration
